FASCINATING STORIES OF FORGOTTEN LIV OP!
Would you rather be a person of significance or a person of prominence?
Think carefully! The answer to that question will shape your entire future.
Pastor, teacher, and beloved author Charles Swindoll says, "Somehow life has taught us poorly. We're trained to think that the most significant people are star athletes, actors, and musicians--the ones we applaud, those whose autographs we seek, those who have worldly renown.
"They aren't. Not really. Most often, the people really worth noting are those who turn a 'nobody' into a 'somebody' but never receive credit." What is forgotten far too often is this: "Success in God's kingdom and in the church depends upon faithful people the public rarely knows."
The Old Testament contains numerous fascinating stories of forgotten lives--unsung heroes whose actions, sacrifices, or battles failed to ascribe them worldly renown. These great lives, however, reveal "significant" people whom God honors in the pages of His Word and, therefore, deserve our serious attention and emulation.
And yet, did you recall any of their names? They're not on the rolls of the rich and famous. Still, they are "significant."
In this eighth volume of the bestselling Great Lives from God's Word series, Chuck will examine little-remembered Bible characters and events. He will help you discover biblical principles and practical applications for living so that you can be who you are in God's estimation . . . a person of true significance.

Five Views Historical Jesus Five Views
Christianity Today Book Award winner
The scholarly quest for the historical Jesus has a distinguished pedigree in modern Western religious and historical scholarship, with names such as Strauss, Schweitzer and Bultmann highlighting the story. Since the early 1990s, when the Jesus quest was reawakened for a third run, numerous significant books have emerged. And the public's attention has been regularly arrested by media coverage, with the Jesus Seminar or the James ossuary headlining the marquee.
This Spectrum Multiview volume provides a venue for readers to sit in on a virtual seminar on the historical Jesus. Beginning with a scene-setting historical introduction by the editors, prominent figures in the Jesus quest set forth their views and respond to their fellow scholars.
On the one end Robert M. Price lucidly maintains that the probability of Jesus' existence has reached the "vanishing point," and on the other Darrell Bock ably argues that while critical method yields only a "gist" of Jesus, it takes us in the direction of the Gospel portraits. In between there are numerous avenues to explore, questions to be asked and "assured results" to be weighed. And John Dominic Crossan, Luke Timothy Johnson and James D. G. Dunn probe these issues with formidable knowledge and honed insight, filling out a further range of options.
The Historical Jesus: Five Views offers a unique entry into the Jesus quest. For both the classroom and personal study, this is a book that fascinates, probes and engages.
Spectrum Multiview Books offer a range of viewpoints on contested topics within Christianity, giving contributors the opportunity to present their position and also respond to others in this dynamic publishing format.

Frappe with Philippians
Frappe with Philippians is part of the Coffee Cup Bible Studies, a series of Bible studies for women in compact, workbook format that examine the "life and times" of certain Bible characters and the books of the Bible that pertain to them. Each study is to be read over a four-to-six week period, and study sections are broken down into short, daily segments designed to fit reader's busy lifestyles.
Understanding that time is precious, the Coffee Cup Bible Studies are patterned in such a convenient way that they can be read during brief windows of opportunity that allow for meditation and study (breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, etc.) Scripture is provided from the NET Bible (New English Translation), making Bible study convenient for occasions when you can't carry a Bible.
It all started with a woman's prayer group. Its members could not have have imagined the legacy they would leave! The church at Philippi, founded on the prayers of these women, supported Paul, the "Apostle to the Gentiles", throughout his ministry and is recipient of his warmest letter. In this letter to his beloved spiritual family at Philippi-written with joy even as he sat imprisoned, abandoned, and facing possible execution-se see his desire to know Christ and make him known.
Likewise, he longs for his friends to share that vision. Frappe with Philippians takes readers on a journey back to first-century Philippi, bringing them face to face with the Son of God who "emptied Himself" and unites them as a community. In this study, present-day believers get a glimpse of the joy they can experience when the church is united with one focus: seeing humanity's need and making known God's solution in the person of Jesus Christ.
