For 50 years he's been conducting crusades for the world. But few know the preacher apart from the pulpit. Few have been there in the circle during pre-crusade prayer times, or sat beside him on flights around the globe, or visited with him in his North Carolina home.

But for nearly 40 years, Sherwood Wirt has been there. He has ministered and traveled with Billy Graham and experienced the realities of international ministry alongside his dear friend--a friend who also happens to be the world's most loved evangelist. In that time, Sherwood Wirt has come to know the real Billy.

And now so can you. Sharing stories, highlights, and the historic moments of Graham's ministry efforts, as well as the times spent away from the public eye, Wirt gives you an intimate glimpse of Billy. His memoirs reveal Billy's heart and vision. And his loving tribute will reassure you that the evangelist you've listened to for decades is as he has always seemed--a man devoted to God and to opening the door of His Kingdom to the world.

Some of the choicest glimpses into the ministries of the biblical prophets and evangelists were recorded not by those individuals themselves, but by writers who accompanied them in their work. Dr. Sherwood Wirt has been a valued associate of my father for decades, and in this book he shares his own unique perspective on Daddy's life and ministry. I appreciate his friendship and efforts.

Too often we lean into the wrong things and burn out. We buy society's lie that our worth is our work, our value is our vocation, our calling is our career. Confusing what we do with who we are wreaks havoc on our bodies, our souls, and our relationships.

Called Out is a deeply personal book from Paula Faris, the beloved on-air reporter for ABC News and former co-host of The View. She shares her journey through conquering fears that nearly kept her from the high-profile, high-stakes world of broadcast journalism, and then the dangers when that world threatened to consume her. She burned out and faced public humiliation, physical breakdowns, and family struggles. But along the way, she heard God gently calling her out of that dangerous place. As she struggled to find who she was outside of what she did, she discovered her true purpose and true calling. Today, she is the host of ABC's popular podcast Journeys of Faith.

Written with passion and conviction, this book reflects on what it truly means to be called, how to move past the fear holding you back, and how to walk in God's path for you.

Harold Schofield, a brilliant Oxford doctor who had laboured as a missionary in China for many years, was on his knees praying, 'Lord, give me missionaries from British Universities to help in China'.
The day he died, D. E. Hoste applied to Hudson Taylor for mission work in the China Inland Mission (Now Overseas Missionary Fellowship). Schofield's prayer was answered as seven Cambridge students volunteered to leave behind cosy lives of wealth and privilege to serve God in whatever way they were led.
These seven inspired thousands of others to think seriously of missionary service. Included among them was C.T. Studd, captain of England and the finest cricketer of his day - if he could give all that up, then so could anyone!
The story of these seven are an inspiration that God can take people and use them in incredible ways - if they are willing to serve.
As Pollock says in his book 'Theirs is the story of ordinary men, and thus may be repeated'. Will it be repeated in your life?

This remarkable autobiography is a journey from terror, violence, and despair into freedom, peace, and joy. Catching Ricebirds: A Story of Letting Vengeance Go is Marcus Doe's true story as a Liberian refugee who lost his family and ed his country, and ultimately learns to forgive and find peace again.

Marcus Doe was born in Liberia, West Africa, in 1979. In Doe's earliest memory, his brother Molley taught him to catch birds in their yard, luring them into traps with grains of rice. When the country erupted in civil war, Molley took part in the chaos and violence that cost the life of their father and left Marcus an orphan and a refugee.

Reaching manhood, Marcus was held captive by a spirit of vengeance. Lured into bitterness and depression, his heart was imprisoned in plans to kill his father's murderer. But God's light reached him in this darkness. Where he had been lled with hatred, Marcus slowly learned to forgive. Now his mission is to bring the hope and the peace of Christ to others. Marcus's life unfolds in four movements: first as a young boy living in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, during a period of growing unrest; second as a refugee eeing from rebel forces that would kill him and his family without a second thought; third as a wanderer in foreign countries--Ghana, the United States--unable to return to his childhood home; and finally as an adult, coming to grips with the loss he experienced and longing to see his own healing extend to Molley and others still haunted by Liberia's suffering.

Fans of the New York Times bestseller Unbroken about Louis Zamperini will love this story as well, as it has similar themes of one man's struggle to find redemption in the face of incredible hardship.

  • How did one of the twentieth century's most celebrated liberals have such a dramatic change of heart? After growing up in the heart of rural Methodism in Oklahoma, Thomas Oden found Marx, Nietzsche and Freud storming into his imagination. He joined the post-World War II pacifist movement and became enamored with every aspect of the 1950s' ecumenical Student Christian Movement. Ten years before America's entry into the Vietnam war he admired Ho Chi Min as an agrarian patriot. For Oden, every turn was a left turn. At Yale he earned his PhD under H. Richard Niebuhr and later met with some of the most formidable minds of the era--enjoying conversations with Gadamer, Bultmann and Pannenberg as well as a lengthy discussion with Karl Barth at a makeshift office in his hospital room. While traveling with his family through Turkey, Syria and Israel, he attended Vatican II as an observer and got his first taste of ancient Christianity. And slowly, he stopped making left turns. Oden's enthusiasms for pacifism, ecumenism and the interface between theology and psychotherapy were ambushed by varied shapes of reality. Yet it was a challenge from a Jewish scholar, his friend and mentor Will Herberg, that precipitated his most dramatic turn--back to the great minds of ancient Christianity. Later a meeting with then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (later Benedict XVI) planted the seeds for what became Oden's highly influential Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture. This fascinating memoir walks us through not only his personal history but some of the most memorable chapters in twentieth-century theology.

Synopsis: Charles Simeon ministered for over fifty years in one parish at the heart of Cambridge during the bleak period of English national life between the French Wars and the passing of the Reform Bill. He was considered by Lord Macaulay to have had greater influence on the life of the church than any primate. Soundly converted in his first term at King's College, he was appointed Vicar of Holy Trinity in 1782, combining the incumbency with a Fellowship and various academic posts. Highly unpopular at first on account of both his message and his manner, scorned and abused for many years, he carried on regardless of other's opinions until in the end he became perhaps the best known and best respected name in Cambridge. Hot-tempered but warm-hearted, impetuous but infinitely patient, a man of imposing, even remarkable appearance, he was a "character," about whom the most entertaining stories are eagerly recounted. As a Christian of independent mind and strong convictions, he found his spiritual strength in a lifetime of deep devotion and strict personal discipline; as a biblical preacher he was the first for many generations to see the possibility and importance of teaching men how to expound the Scriptures; as a pastor and evangelist his work with both town and gown was marked by a rare faithfulness and zeal. Limited all his life to the one center of spiritual activity, he yet was the moving spirit in the formation of the Church Missionary Society, and an enthusiastic supporter of the Bible Society and of work among the Jews. Endorsements: "A brilliant biography. I can only think in superlatives . . . this book will be the definitive biography in any conceivable future." -Max Warren Author Biography: Hugh Evan Hopkins was educated at Haileybury and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Converted during his first year, he became President of the University Christian Union in 1930. After ordination he served as a missionary in South India and later spent three years in evangelistic work in the British universities. During World War II, he was Vicar of churches in Redhill and Durham before being appointed in 1947 Provost of Nairobi Cathedral, Kenya. On returning to England, he was successively Rector of St. Mary-le-Bow, Cheapside and Rector of the Parish Church of Cheltenham. He was made Honorary Canon of Gloucester Cathedral in 1960. In Cheltenham his interests included the work of the Samaritans, of which he was Director, and the Colleges of Education, of which he was Chairman of the Governors. His other books include Henceforth, The Mystery of Suffering, and Morning and Evening Prayer.

With so many authors and an array of genres, you might expect the Bible to be an anthology of disconnected pieces. Yet, the sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation weave together into a cohesive unit of divine instruction. But, the question remains Is there more? Is there a comprehensive design in the Bible that surpasses the mere idea of conceptual unity? Stepping back to look more broadly at the arrangement of the sixty-six divinely inspired books of the Bible it is surprising to observe a mosaic image of a person with a head, torso, arms, and legs. The body of Jesus Christ (Incarnation) and the body of biblical truth (Inspiration) representing the two special revelations of God, were apparently constructed in the same manner. Taking the books of the Bible in their received groupings and order, being careful not to manipulate God s providential arrangement, we see a mirror image of the man Jesus Christ. It seems that the Bible presents to us the Person of our Lord, not only in its content, but also in its form. Crafted by God is the unveiling of this discovery and a probing of its implications. Here is a study that truly unlocks the harmonious structure and purposeful design of the Bible as well as opening new vistas of thought that put all of Scripture into its contextual meaning."

Cyprian of Carthage is one of many forgotten early church fathers. And yet his story is one of incredible perseverance for the sake of the gospel. Living through a time of terrible persecution towards Christians, Cyprian wrestled with questions surrounding the church and contributed greatly to the writings on its importance as the bride of Christ. He dealt first-hand with the effects which persecution has on church bodies and offered many insights which are becoming increasingly relevant in the West today.
