You don't need to memorize evangelical formulas or answers. You just have to be willing to ask.

There was something different about the way Jesus communicated with the lost: He didn't force answers upon people, He asked questions. So why don't we?

Following Christ's lead, Randy Newman has been using a questioning style of evangelism for decades. In this provocative book, he provides practical insights to help Christians engage others in meaningful spiritual conversations. He challenges us to examine how we think about people, their questions, and our crucial message.

This second edition includes a new preface reflecting on the popularity of this perennial best seller and what its success has taught Newman about the effectiveness of this extraordinary method.

"Distilled out of over twenty years of personal evangelism, this book reflects both a deep grasp of biblical theology and a penetrating compassion for people--and finds a way forward in wise, probing questions. How very much like the Master Himself!"--D. A. Carson, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School

"Questioning Evangelism steps outside the boundaries of evangelism as usual and tackles the tougher issues of our modern day."--Mitch Glaser, Chosen People Ministries

What is Jesus worth to you?

It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, Jesus said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...

But who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

Powerhouse. Heroes. World-changers. These are some of the words being used to describe you, the Millennial generation. You have an instinctive urge to renew, re-imagine, and reshape everything you can get your hands on. The institution of the church, however, is another story. Organized religion is experiencing a dropout phenomenon among an entire generation of people in their 20s and 30s. Increasingly disillusioned, you are leaving the church . . . in droves. But what if this disillusionment is no accident? As we look at the bigger picture, we see that you just happen to be coming of age during the dawning of a new church era. Every 500 years the church reforms, and we are at that time in history. Could it be that God has prepared you to catalyze the next reformation? Could it be that you are actually the revolutionaries of our age?

Reluctant Witness Discovering the Delight of Spiritual Conversations

New research finds that Christians are less involved in spiritual conversations today than we were twenty-five years ago. As society has changed, it seems we have become more uncomfortable talking with people about our faith. We are reluctant conversationalists. The reality is that many of our churches and communities are shrinking instead of growing. What can we do about this? Don Everts, himself a reluctant witness, grew up assuming that spiritual conversations are always painful and awkward. But after falling into one spiritual conversation after another, he was surprised to discover that they aren't. Don's surprising--and sometimes embarrassing--stories affirm what Scripture and the latest research reveal: spiritual conversations can actually be a delight. Unpacking what God's Word says about spiritual conversations and digging into the habits of eager conversationalists, Everts describes what we can learn from Christians who are still talking about their faith. With original research from the Barna Group and Lutheran Hour Ministries on spiritual conversations in the digital age, this book offers fresh insights and best practices for fruitful everyday conversations.

When was the last time you shared your faith?

If we're being honest, it's an awkward, challenging conversation. Christians know that we're supposed to be sharing the gospel with the lost. Jesus gave us the Great Commission before he left, telling us to go and make disciples of all nations. But we still just . . . don't do it. Why?

Is evangelism dead?

Here's the good news: evangelism is the means by which Jesus promised to build his church, and Jesus will make good on his promises. In Resuscitating Evangelism father-son duo Jordan and Ernest Easley--both pastors and evangelists--share a biblical strategy for obeying Jesus and bringing new life to evangelism. As we bring new life to evangelism, we'll see God bring new life to the lost all around us.

In Deuteronomy 17, Moses is leaving final instructions concerning the future of Israel. As a prophet of God, Moses foretells of when Israel will place a king over the nation (v. 14). In verse 18, the king is commanded to not simply acquire a copy of the law (the entire book of Deuteronomy) from the "scroll publishing house," but to hand write his own copy of the law. Thirty-four hundred years later, educators are "discovering" that students that physically write out their notes by hand have a much greater retention rate than simply hearing or visually reading the information. Apparently, God knew this to be true of the kings of Israel also. From such understanding came the conception of this series of books.

Reviving Evangelism

$39.00

How Can They Hear Unless Someone Tells Them?

The apostle’s question to the Christians in Rome is just as relevant for Christ-followers today, who are heirs of Jesus’ Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all the nations” (Matt. 28:19). But a number of factors are curbing many Christians’ enthusiasm for faith-sharing, including the decline of religion in America, a spreading apathy toward spiritual matters and a growing cultural suspicion of people of faith. Where does that leave evangelism?

Based on all-new Barna research commissioned by Alpha USA, Reviving Evangelism compares the faith-sharing experiences and expectations of Christians and non-Christians. Inside you’ll find:

  • New data on how Americans express spiritual openness and hunger and how they think about their spiritual lives
  • Comparative analysis of non-Christians’ expectations of faith conversations and Christians’ understanding of their expectations and priorities
  • Insights from Josh Chen, Mary Healy, Michelle Jones, Tim Keller, Kevin Palau, Rufus Smith and other ministry practitioners that shed clear light on what the data means for Christians and their churches
  • Infographics, charts and other data visualizations
  • And much more!

This new report is a clear-eyed assessment of Christian evangelism in America today: what’s working, what’s not and what must change for Christians to carry on the legacy of gospel-sharing inherited from the apostles.

."If Mr. Law finds a spark of piety in a reader's mind, he will soon kindle it into a flame."
--Edward Gibbon

Originally published in 1728 at the beginning of the Enlightenment, when rational criticism of religious belief was at its peak, William Law's A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life succeeded in inspiring the most cynical men of the age with its arguments in favor of a spiritual life.

Law's challenge of conventional piety and emphasis on Christian perfection directly influenced literary critic Samuel Johnson and historian Edward Gibbon, as well as Cardinal John Henry Newman. John Wesley called it one of three books that accounted for his first "explicit resolve to be all devoted to God." Also, Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, Henry Venn, William Wilberforce, and Thomas Scott each described reading the book as a major turning point in his life.

More than simply a set of rules to live by, Law's book examines what it means to lead a Christian life and criticizes the perversion of Christian tenets by secular and spiritual establishments. Proclaiming that God does not merely forgive our disobedience, but directly calls us to obedience and to a life completely centered in him, he chides, "If you will here stop and ask yourself why you are not as pious as the primitive Christians were, your own heart will tell you that it is neither through ignorance nor inability, but because you never thoroughly intended it." Law's prose is fresh and vivid as he illustrates the Christian life as one lived completely for God. His thoughts on prayer, personal holiness, stewardship, pride and humility, and service to the poor will resonate with contemporary readers.

You were born for this.
God hardwired you--yes, you--for this.

I'm talking about sharing Jesus with others.

What if I told you evangelism is less about delivering a polished presentation and more about having a real conversation?
What if I told you that God has created you to bring glory to himself by sharing Jesus with others, and that you don't need years of training to obey what he already made you to do?

God created you for his glory to advance his gospel with the gifts, talents, and opportunities he gave you. You live at this time in history for a purpose bigger than yourself. In these pages you will read how to connect the gospel story with your story, and how to talk about that story in normal conversations with people you know.
No gimmicks.
Nothing clever.
No need to freak out.
Just you, Jesus, and others--in conversations that matter.
