Many believers accept traditional Christian sexual morality but have very little idea why it matters for the Christian life. In Faithful, author Beth Felker Jones sketches a theology of sexuality that demonstrates sex is not about legalistic morals with no basis in reality but rather about the God who is faithful to us.

In Hosea 2:19-20 God says to Israel, "I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy. I will take you for my wife in faithfulness; and you shall know the Lord." This short book explores the goodness of sexuality as created and redeemed, and it suggests ways to navigate the difficulties of living in a world in which sexuality, like everything else, suffers the effects of the fall.

As part of Zondervan's Ordinary Theology series, Faithful takes a deeper look at a subject Christians talk about often but not always thoughtfully. This short, insightful reflection explores the deeper significance of the body and sexuality.

FAITHFUL CHURCH MEMBER

A short, but helpful study of both the responsibilities and privileges of church membership. This is especially necessary today with the prevailing casualness that exists in relation to the membership of a local church. A clear reminder for those already part of a church and a challenge for any prospective members regarding commitment to the head of the church, the Lord Jesus Christ. For an annual fee, you can be a member of your community recreational center, where you have access to its exercise equipment and swimming pool. If you choose never to visit the building, it's no problem. You can sit at home and eat ice cream all day and never get your membership revoked. So long as you pay your dues, you are a member. It is not surprising that membership in a local church has also become non-demanding. Paul reminds us in Ephesians 4:10-16 that membership in the church is all about Christ. Attention is focused on five areas of marks: Christ's Word, His person, His people, His cause, and His image. Examination is made as to what it means to be a faithful member of the body of Christ in each of these areas in the (1) personal, (2) public, and (3) practical dimensions of our lives. Thus, fifteen characteristics of a faithful church member are made. Each section is followed by a series of Bible Study questions to enable the reader to take part actively in the text.

The apostle Paul declared that "what we preach" was "folly" in the eyes of many in his time (1 Cor. 1:21). Such is always the world's response to the gospel. But in our day, it seems that the method behind Paul's message--preaching--is itself an object of ridicule, even within the evangelical church. In an age of short attention spans and entertainment "consumers," many churches are yielding to pressure to set aside preaching in their worship services in favor of more "relevant" methodologies.

In Feed My Sheep: A Passionate Plea for Preaching, an outstanding team of pastors and scholars says to the modern church: "Turn back!" Preaching is not just one of many acceptable methodologies that the church may employ as the cultural landscape changes. Rather, the preaching of God's Word is the biblically mandated method by which unbelievers are to be converted and churches built up in the faith.

This book reveals the biblical basis for preaching, sketches the way it ought to be practiced, and shows the many practical benefits that flow from strong pulpits. Here is encouragement for preachers and wise counsel for those who desire to sit under the ministry of the Word of God preached.

"What a refreshing book! Imagine a church whose primary emphasis is to make people "feel at home." I wish every young pastor could read this book. Thanks, Lee, for a wonderful reminder of what the church is to be."

-Erwin W. Lutzer, Pastor Emeritus, The Moody Church, Chicago

Is your church acting like an organization or a home?

You love your church, but you wonder if it could be more. There's a greeting team, but is there a true spirit of welcoming? There are committees, leaders, and programs, but is there a Spirit-led vision? There are small groups, but are people truly connected?

Pastor and award-winning author Lee Eclov was troubled by these questions. Then, he had a realization: he wasn't called to lead an organization, but a family. His job was to be a "homemaker," not a CEO. This paradigm shift changed everything. In Feels Like Home, he shares what he's learned from over 40 years of ministry about being the family of God and how to live into that beautiful reality.

This short volume is full of stories of small adjustments that make a huge difference in the effectiveness, warmth, and growth of a church community. Discover how the love of a family can transform your church.

Final Race the Incredible World War II Story of the Olympian Who Inspired Chariots of Fire

An award-winning biography of a man whose faith and resilience continues to inspire.
On July 19, 1924, Eric Liddell was on top of the world. He was the most famous Briton at the time, having just won the gold in the Olympic 400-meter race. The story of that race―and the one he didn't run―was told in the popular movie classic Chariots of Fire.

But what most of us don't know is what became of Eric Liddell in the years after the credits rolled. As the storm clouds of World War II rolled in, Eric had already made decisions in his life that gave him the resilience to stand tall while others fell into despair. His strength of character led him to choose an uncertain future in China during World War II in order to continue helping the Chinese. He lived purposefully even as his world crumbled and he experienced the horror and deprivations of a Japanese internment camp.

Eric's story is a story of hope in the face of uncertainty, resilience in the face of unspeakable odds, and inspiring vision of what life means, even when the final hour comes.

The first race you run isn't your most important one. It's the final race that matters most.

You won't want to miss this story of an Olympian who chose the better way.

Find Us Faithful is a unique study of leadership based on the Apostle Paul's farewell address to the church elders of Ephesus found in Acts 20:17-35--the profound final words of one great leader to another historic group of leaders.

Author David Olford explains, "In studying this text we are going to be looking at three lasting legacies of utmost value that this faithful leader left to the church. These are legacies that we as leaders today would do well to leave behind. We will see that Paul first left a personal example behind at Ephesus. Secondly, he left a preached word. And then the third legacy was a prepared leadership."

Church leaders from all backgrounds will indeed find ongoing inspiration in this fresh and succinct exposition.

Finding Rest Pack of 25

$0.12 - $2.99

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

MATTHEW 11:28-30

THE INVITATION

Are you stressed? Does your life seem to be in constant conflict? Do you sometimes feel as if there is a burden on your back--a heaviness in your soul--that continually weighs you down?

If you are struggling to cope with a life that is confusing and out of control, take heart. If you are searching for rest for your soul, there is good news. Jesus is offering a personal invitation to you.

WHY IS REST SO DIFFICULT TO FIND?

The work of this world always seems more important than Jesus's invitation in Matthew 11:28. Even though you desire to give your heart and mind a break, it is nearly impossible to turn away from the priorities set in place by the culture you live in.

Too often, people search for comfort and rest in the form of drugs, unhealthy relationships, self-help books, and even vacations. But these are often just an escape from reality, creating empty promises of relief from the stress of the real world. The rest offered by Jesus Christ is one that lasts for eternity.

WHERE CAN I FIND REST?

God's Word (the Bible) says that only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can bring you true rest for your soul. Jesus calls for you to come to him and he will give you rest. This means that you must turn aside from relying on your own efforts--your attempts to measure up by your own power--and trust solely in Jesus.

HOW CAN JESUS GIVE ME REST?

In Matthew 11:29, Jesus says, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart." He welcomes you to cast your worries and fears upon him and to believe that he has already paid the price for your sin, your burdens, and your guilt. He will give you rest by promising forgiveness of every sin you ever committed, or ever will, and eternal life with him in the new heavens and new earth when he returns.

WHAT MUST I DO?

To receive this wonderful peace and rest that Jesus promises, you must understand and accept the following six important biblical truths:

1. All people are sinful. Sin comes in the form of the bad things that we say, think, and do. Sins are even the good things done with selfish motivations. All sins are committed in the presence of God, who is holy.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

2. Sin is so serious to God that death is the necessary and just result.

"For the wages (payment) of sin is death." (Romans 6:23)

3. There is no way you could do anything good enough to save yourself.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

4. Although you deserve to die for your own sins, Jesus Christ (who never sinned) died for you. He was your substitute. He made the payment for your sins when he died on the cross and rose again.

"Christ died for our sins . . . he was buried . . . he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

5. You must place your trust, not in anything good you have done or will do, but only in what Christ has already done for you.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

6. You cannot earn eternal life; it is a gift that you either accept or reject. When you receive God's gift, you become his child, and you are adopted into his family.

"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)

If you've already trusted Christ as your Savior, here are some things you can do to grow in your relationship with him:

- Read the Bible to learn more about God and his plan for your life.

- Pray to God often to share your joys and problems and to confess your sins.

- Attend a Bible-teaching church where you can worship God and get to know other Christians.

- Share your faith. You have just received a wonderful gift. Tell someone!
